Salim Iqbal Sherwani became the first MP from Badaun. Then, from 1984 to 2019, elections were held for the Lok Sabha ten times in 35 years and each time the crown of victory was placed on the head of an outside leader. Salim Iqbal Sherwani of Prayagraj was MP five times, Dharmendra Yadav of Saifai twice, Sharad Yadav of Madhya Pradesh, Swami Chinmayanand of Shahjahanpur and Sanghamitra Maurya of Lucknow were MPs once each.
